INTENDED AUDIENCE: Engineering students, biotech students, software and telecommunications researchers, application developers and managers.
COURSE GOALS: This course presents fundamentals in the protection of algorithms, software, telecommunications and business methodologies using intellectual property. Patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret and antitrust principles are presented with an emphasis on the Internet, software, databases, and digital transmission technologies. We explore the engineering professionals’ responsibilities and opportunities regarding intellectual property and its effect on the information systems design and development environment.
PREREQUISITES: Open to majors in ANY division of the University. Upper division student status required (juniors & seniors).
